Kingscote Haulage Ltd provide muck-away services and a range of environmental services including soil testing, remediation and the supply of recycled aggregate throughout London and the South East. The company was established in 2020 as part of the, Borehamwood based, Morrisroe group of companies.
Transport Manager, Michael Chambers, explains how the FORS standard has helped the company establish a culture of compliance, safety, efficiency and environmental awareness.
Being part of the Morrisroe group of companies means Kingscote Haulage Ltd have been familiar with the FORS Standard since incorporation.
Whilst confident with our operator compliance systems we set about aligning our policies and procedures with the FORS standard and had our first successful Bronze audit in September 2020. Having our compliance systems audited for the first time was quite a daunting experience so were delighted to pass at the first attempt. Being comfortable in our ability to demonstrate that we could manage, maintain and evolve we decided to apply for FORS Silver accreditation, which was approved in October 2020.
Since incorporation Kingscote Haulage Ltd have invested heavily in the most efficient Euro VI vehicles available on the market. Conscious of environmental impacts also meant the choice of vehicles had to be industry leading with regard emission outputs.
The company has taken advantage of the various FORS toolkits, training and management systems that have been made readily available by FORS. The completion of Safe Urban Driving courses, FORS Practitioner Workshops and road risk related eLearning modules gives us the confidence that managers and drivers have never been more informed regarding road safety and Vulnerable Road Users.

- Kingscote Haulage Ltd monitor and review the health, fitness and wellbeing of drivers at the start of employment and periodically thereafter. All drivers complete a medical declaration upon induction and again at every annual review of the FORS Policy Manual. In addition, we will continue to encourage drivers to eat healthy, participate in regular fitness activities and distribute healthy lifestyle literature to drivers.
- Our drivers largely come from recommendation, but we are currently reviewing ways to encourage new drivers into the industry via local schools and colleges and adding recruitment sections to our website and other social media outlets.
Although our operating centre is not in a noise sensitive area, some of the various site we deliver to can be, so we carry out toolbox talks to make drivers aware of keeping noise to an absolute minimum. Also, we are always careful in planning our deliveries to minimise disruption in the local area.- We are continually looking at how technology is moving forward to meet the needs of the industry however there is not yet any alternatively fuel vehicles available that would meet our requirements
We have continued to invest in our fleet to ensure we operate the most efficient vehicles the market has to offer. Our current fleet of entirely Euro VI vehicles are returning favourable efficiency and emissions figures. We will continue to develop and evolve looking for ways to constantly improve safety standards and reduce the emissions output of the fleet by investing in the latest technology on the market

Gaining FORS Gold accreditation would give our customers confidence that Kingscote Haulage Ltd are maintaining, exceeding and promoting the FORS Standard within the industry. We will continue exploring avenues to improve and look forward to continuing our FORS association for many more years.
